Mother Earth

So...tomorrow is Earth Day, andI'm still not sure how I'm going to celebrate. I wish I could go to the beach for the Earth Day festival, but I have class. Apparently Earth Day is not important enough for a day away from class. It would be a day where paper is not wasted. It would be a day that people went nowhere in their cars. It would be a day that public transportation ceased. It would a day of bike rides and picnics. I think that's how I'm going to celebrate. Bike rides and a picnic...

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Opt to Adopt

Approximately 6-8 million animals are placed in a shelter in the United States each year. Only 3-4 million of these precious animals make it out alive. Please opt to adopt a pet from your local animal shelter. These pets deserve loving homes. Also, if you can, support your local no-kill animal shelter. This support can come in the form of monetary donation, volunteer work, or advertisement. Make an effort to save these beautiful animals. Give them a chance at a wonderful life.

Bag the Bags

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wIbNEqmCUo

I found this video on a classroom blog for my technology class, and it really made an impact. There are those people who are able to make major efforts to save our planet. Then, there are those people who don't have the time for that commitment. I fall into the latter group. This video shows the small changes that people like myself can make to help our planet. Bag the bags, paper and plastic. Almost everywhere you go, you can find a canvas bag for $1. It's a good investment to make. Take care of our planet. It's the only one we have.

Lysacek for Gold

In my opinion, Lysacek deserves the gold medal. Even if you don't believe he deserves it for performance, I think it's evident that his attitude deserves the gold. I'm not one to talk crap about anyone, but this interview with Plunshenko really rubbed me the wrong way. A large majority of the people on our planet watch the Olympics, and he had the nerve to stand before everyone and say that he deserved the gold. He even stood on the gold medal pedestal! I'm not here to judge men's figure skating. I couldn't tell you the first thing about it. However, I am judging the character of Plushenko. Maybe he did deserve the gold. As I've mentioned, I can't judge the skating, but the proper thing to do (especially when on international television) would be to appreciate the medal you did receive. Overall, I believe Plushenko was a poor sport. There is nothing shameful about a silver medal in the Olympics. Be proud! Be thankful!
